Samantha's interview

Samantha discusses why TAN is a valuable network for housing associations and how it will support them in delivering solutions. Watch her interview or read the transcript below to find out more.

What is TAN and why is it a valuable network for housing associations?

TAN was brought together to bring all of the interested parties to the conversation about temporary accommodation together. We saw a gap in communication between all of the different parties that need to work together to deliver, and actually what our members have been telling us is that they struggle to reach the correct person within the local authority or housing association to ask about a particular plot. So, the aim of TAN is to bring those parties together, find a way for them to collaborate, and hopefully deliver actual units to the market to add to the temporary accommodation portfolio.

How will TAN support organisations in delivering solutions?

One of the things that TAN is committed to is trying to bring actual solutions to the table we don't want this to be just a talking shop we want people with real ideas to come so that we can put together playbooks or assist with putting together playbooks to actually deliver those models.

We've been working really closely with the team who are spearheading Project 123, which is a G15 initiative, and that is looking at three key models of delivery for temporary accommodation in a quick, safe, and suitable way because as we know temporary accommodation often is not to the standard it should be for housing people. So, working on specific ideas and models means that we can hone in on the specifics of them and help people come to actually put them into practice for their own organisation, either local authorities or our RP clients, working with local authorities to help discharge their duties.
