Rachel Best KC has acted in a number of inquests, typically representing Police Authorities, Prison Boards, HM Government departments and agencies. This includes the high-profile recent case of:
Inquest touching upon the death of Lillian Marjorie Cawdery & anor [2023] NICoroner 22: acted for the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) at the inquest to review the actions of mental health professionals, hospitals and the police. This followed the deaths of a 83-year old couple in their homes by a man who was later found guilty of their manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility.

Sunyana Sharma is the Head of 3PB’s Inquests Team with experience in inquest work covering medical negligence cases, deaths at sea, fatal accidents at work and deaths in care home settings and suicides of community and voluntary and involuntary patients. .
She is well equipped to deal with a full range of inquest work as noted by her expertise in areas of professional disciplinary law, maritime law and health and safety work.
In November 2021, Sunyana was appointed as an Assistant Coroner for Hampshire, Portsmouth and Southampton and now combines this part-time role with her busy inquests’ caseload.
She provides added value to inquests as a result of her previous practice area of personal injury in which she conducted clinical negligence claims, work related illnesses and accidents and police misconduct claims.

Tagbo Ilozue is a member of the 3PB Inquests Team. His medical and scientific background gives him a valuable insight into the sensitive issues raised in such proceedings and a particular skill in dealing with complex expert evidence. Recent cases include:
- Representing a care-home in the final 2 days of a 4-day inquest (Tagbo stepped in at short notice to cover for a colleague) touching on the death of a resident at the home who sustained a catastrophic head injury in a fall.
- Representing a company in a PIRH for an anticipated 2-day jury inquest touching on the death of a man who died in the course of his work as a contractor for the company.
