Out and About

The HMPL team have had busy time with webinars, conferences and client training.

In September we launched our Renters’ Rights Webinar series and the last session for 2024, on Shared Ownership and Leases, took place on 25 November. It has been an incredibly successful series, and we will be continuing it in 2025, when we know more about what the final provisions should look like.

On 25 September 2024, we held our sold-out our Building Safety Act Flagship Conference. This provided a refresher as to the changes made by the Building Safety Act 2022 and we shared insight into current issues and what is on the horizon. Speakers included Lee Russell, Mark Foxcroft, Zoe McLean-Wells, Neil Lawlor, Hannah Keane and Alex Clarke.

We’ve attended a number of external conferences - Jatinder Bhamber spoke at the Housing Quality Network Conference on 8 October 2024 and Mark Foxcroft spoke at the National Leasehold Group Conference on 11 and 14 November 2024, both virtually and in person! Other members of the team have been busy prepping and speaking at webinars and conferences as well as giving direct client training sessions on a variety of topics including, ASB, injunctions and possession. Victoria Smith and Kelly Lloyd attended the House of Commons with Resolve ASB and Victoria also attend the Centrepoint awards with Anna Bennett.

We will be continuing our Building Blocks series in the new year, covering a variety of different topics so do keep an eye out for these sessions along with more on Renters’ Rights, the intricacies of the Building Safety Act and leasehold reform which will all be hot topics in 2025.

And for our in house lawyer colleagues, we are at the end of our InLaws programme with our most recent session ‘Commercial contracts: managing your contracts in a period of rising costs’ proving very popular. Our new programme for 2025 will be released shortly so do watch this space.

We are prepping for our conference in Cardiff which will take place at the end of April. We are partnering again this year with Cornerstone Barristers and it looks to be another brilliant day full of useful sessions and debate... more to follow…
